With just over a week to go to polling day in the European elections on May 23rd, Lib Dems from across Cornwall have hit the streets to drive home the message that Brexit has become a national embarrassment for the UK.
Speaking to local party activists, Tim Styles, Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for St Austell and Newquay said:
"With every passing day more and more people are realising how important EU membership is to our country and our future.
Liberal Democrats have been fighting for better jobs, the environment and a fairer deal for Cornwall for decades, and will continue to do so.
Theresa May is trying to deliver the worst kind of truly disastrous Brexit that only Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg wanted. She is being aided and abetted in this by Jeremy Corbyn and Labour party that seems to have lost its way.
The Liberal Democrats and Vince Cable want to stop Brexit.
We were the first to call for a People’s Vote and we’ve led the opposition in Parliament.
We want Britain to remain in the EU because it’s best for our economy, environment and public services.
If you agree with us and you want your children to grow up in nation that is outward looking, tolerant and friendly towards our neighbours and secure in our own identity then vote for the only party that can stop Farage and his cronies.
I am delighted to have a powerful slate of candidates, led by former Reuter's journalist, freelance editor and successful social entrepreneur Caroline Voaden. It includes two former MPs Cheltenham's Martin Horwood and Bristol's Stephen Williams. Recently re-elected Councillor for East Devon Eleanor Rylance and Queens Award for Enterprise winner David Chalmers from North Devon are joined by Luke Stagnetto.
Vote Liberal Democrat on Thursday, May 23rd."
