Lib Dems overtake Labour in latest polls

The Liberal Democrats have overtaken Labour in the polls following a successful party conference which saw the number of MPs climb to 18 following the defection of former Conservative MP Sam Gyimah.

The latest polls show the Lib Dems on 23 %, overtaking Labour on 21% who are suffering for their muddled policy on Brexit and party infighting.

The conference was used to launch the Lib Dems new policy on revoking Article 50, effectively cancelling Brexit if they form a majority Liberal Democrat government following a general election.

Tim Styles, the Lib Dem candidate for St Austell and Newquay said: “The choice is now crystal clear. If you want Cornwall to be strong and Independent within a truly Great Britain and a reformed European Union, then the Liberal Democrats are the party to vote for.

Jeremy Corbyn’s dithering over Brexit is proving ruinous for Labour and their continued infighting show that many of their MPs and supporters know it. More and more Labour supporters and members are jumping ship to the Liberal Democrats as it becomes obvious that Labour simply can’t be trusted to protect local jobs and our economy.”
